The Membership Covenant
Membership is meaningful at Amos. It is through collective praise and worship, prayer, the Ministry of the Word and fellowship that saints can realize the victorious, abundant life inJesus Christ. Becoming a member is making a commitment to "Grow Together And Go Together," learning about and serving God with excellence.
Our Sunday morning membership class meeting at 9:00 AM each week to study the Scriptures to discover God's expectations for members of the local fellowship of believers. Take a look at our Membership Covenant below.
MEMBERSHIP COVENANT
As I have been led, as I believe, by God's Spirit to confess the Lord Jesus as my Savior and be joined to the Amos Memorial CME Church, I do now, before the presence of God, solemnly enter into covenant with other members to live out the following:
I Commit Myself to
Honor Leadership. I will respect the spiritual leadership set over me to guard and guide my soul. I will submit to their godly counsel and direction, avoiding open criticism and other divisive practices. I will pray for my leaders as instructed in God' Word and seek to encourage and support them when I am able. (Heb.13:7, 17; Eph. 4:11-13)
Spiritual Growth. I will, by the grace of God, regularly attend worship and be committed to a growth plan for my spiritual wellbeing, which will include public and private Bible Study and prayer. I will also be committed to actively helping others grow in Christ as I am able through godly encouragement and a good example. (2 Pet. 1:3-8; Heb. 6:1-3; Phil 2:1)
Support Financially. I will cheerfully support the ministry financially, through tithes and offerings, and will work in efforts to advance the ministry whenever God makes me able. (Mal.3:10; Matt. 23:23; 1 Cor. 9:6-7)
Serve Faithfully. I will seek out opportunities to serve the causes of this ministry as God gives me strength. I will be faithful in my service through observing courtesy, timeliness, generosity, and humbleness. (Rom. 12:10-21)
Keep a Godly Witness. I will endeavor always to "walk worthy of the calling with which I have been called." I will avoid evil situations and seek "never to let my good be evil spoken of." I will guard my heart and my tongue, preparing my soul for the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will seek to be led by and continually filled with the Holy Spirit of God so that I may effective share my faith visibly and verbally with all that I meet. (Eph. 4:1, 5:18; Mark 16:15-18)
Furthermore, I pledge that if I move from this church, I will be joined with a Spirit-filled, Bible-believing church where I can carry out this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
