PASTOR KAMAU AND COMMUNITY YOUTH FEATURED IN OBAMA COMMERCIAL

Before the election of Sen. Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States, there were many pastors and community leaders working hard for this historic event.  One such person was Pastor Kwesi Kamau.

Pastor Kamau personally endorse Mr. Obama in the earliest stages of his campaign and became a part of the grassroots movement to work for change in the country.  Under the leadership and blessing of Bishop Henry M. WIlliamson, presiding bishop of the Southern California Region, Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, he formed the SCR Voter Network and registered thousands of people to vote before the California primaries.  He partnered with transitional homes across Los Angeles to accomplish voter education and registration among the city's poorest and oft-forgotten citizens.  He erected a website to inspire and inform individuals about their rights and responsibilities as voters, and produced an Obama commercial (paid for by PowerPAC.org) that challenged voters not only to consider who they wanted to vote for, but what they really wanted in a new America.

Pastor Kamau continues to work to organize and mobilize the community to stand up for its interests.  On Saturday, December 13, 2008 he and the Amos Memorial CME Church will host a Business to Business Roundtable in an effort to create new contracting jobs in the LA area.
